2,000 Percent Living Lesson Nine: Personally Create More 2,000 Percent Solutions
Apply the 2,000 percent solution process
to one additional important activity each year
that the Holy Spirit leads you to improve.
For I rejoiced greatly when brethren came
and testified of the truth that is in you,
just as you walk in the truth.
— 3 John 1:3 (NKJV)
Many people rejoice by creating and implementing their
first 2,000 percent solution. I rejoice with them. I would
also like to offer a caution: Their success may become
counterproductive if they become distracted from
continuing to develop their 2,000 percent solution
skills by creating other solutions in that and other
activities. Perhaps the reduced pressure to accomplish
more once the initial challenge is over gets them to
thinking about how they can now enjoy life. Maybe
the rewards of their success open up new ways of
having fun. It’s even possible that having been
successful with their 2,000 percent solution leads more
people to seek their advice or to a promotion or to new
responsibilities at work, requiring a lot of time and effort
to develop new skills and knowledge.
As time passes following the first solution, knowledge of
the 2,000 percent solution process begins to fade. Then
2,000 percent solution creators may begin to doubt their
ability to repeat the success. They may also be reluctant
to work on another 2,000 percent solution for fear of
losing some of the reputation and praise for having
created the first one. Old stalls may return to hamper
them and the organization.
One reason that I directed you in Lesson Eight to teach
someone else to create a 2,000 percent solution is to
help you stay focused on developing your own
expertise. (That’s nicely parallel to the way that
witnessing about your faith to unsaved people helps you
focus more on God.) In this lesson, let’s look at
additional ways that you can avoid being distracted
from and losing knowledge and confidence about
developing and implementing 2,000 percent solutions.
Stretch Yourself with a New Challenge in a
Different Activity
That the Holy Spirit Leads You To
What you decide on will be done,
and light will shine on your ways.
— Job 22:28 (NIV)
Everyone I know who works on creating 2,000 percent
solutions underestimates his or her ability. While I
realize that you have seen hundreds of examples of
perfect individual and group efforts that can be
successfully applied to any problem you like, you don’t
yet appreciate that this knowledge opens the door to
success in virtually all improvement activities.
Many parents and coaches tell youngsters that they
can accomplish anything they set their minds to
achieving. I believe that affirming statement is made
literally true through relying on God’s direction
through the Holy Spirit and applying the 2,000 percent
solution process.
If you knew you could not fail, what would you improve
by twenty times? That’s the question you should answer
for yourself now. Be open to working on a problem in
activities and arenas where you lack expertise and
credibility. As you expand the scope of what you
improve, you’ll find that the process you are mastering
is virtually universal in its applicability. Stop relying on
the way things are done now and start making them
the best they can be.
Let me provide a list of possibilities for you to consider.
My purpose is to encourage your imagination and to
inspire you to identify worthwhile problems to solve
rather than to specifically direct you to work on these
particular tasks.
• Reduce your work week by 96 percent while
accomplishing just as much.
• Help a family member successfully employ 2,000
percent living with only 4 percent of the time and effort
that you put into learning and following the fourteen
lessons.
• Increase the effectiveness of your Christian witnessing
by twenty times.
• Learn a new activity in only 4 percent of the time and
effort that you usually put into learning and applying
something new.
• Increase by twenty times the effectiveness of a charity
or nonprofit organization that you favor.
• Start a new business or nonprofit organization with
one-twentieth the usual amount of investment.
• Develop a way to teach people how to create 2,000
percent solutions in only 4 percent of the usual amount
of time.
• Create a 2,000 percent solution for speeding the
worldwide rate by which people choose to accept
Salvation from the Lord Jesus Christ.
• Establish a 2,000 percent solution for some
substantial social problem, such as reducing slavery,
eliminating starvation and malnutrition, providing
clean water, cleaning up pollution, healing common
diseases, and helping people so they can take better
care of themselves.
Schedule Your Time
so That You Can Develop at Least
One New 2,000 Percent Solution Annually
Behold, I will do a new thing,
Now it shall spring forth;
Shall you not know it?
I will even make a road in the wilderness
And rivers in the desert.
— Isaiah 43:19 (NKJV)
When you implemented Lesson Four, you made
available twenty times more of your precious waking
hours to accomplish your most important goals. Now is
a good time to revisit those time allocations to see if
they remain adequate for allowing you to create at least
one new 2,000 percent solution annually. If you are not
careful, new demands on your most productive time will
take away the precious hours you need for creating
additional 2,000 percent solutions. Be careful to notice
whenever new time demands are at odds with your
goals. This review will serve another useful purpose by
reminding you to develop 2,000 percent solutions that
further your goals. You don’t want to develop problem-
solving talent at the expense of making faster progress
toward the goals you have.
You can also increase your capacity for making 2,000
percent solutions by involving others. The people you
teach how to create their own 2,000 percent solutions
can be valuable helpers. One of the most valuable
sources of help will be teams of people who can be
implementers of any 2,000 percent solution that you
help to create.
Notice that planning to create 2,000 percent solutions
annually increases the value of identifying, teaching, and
encouraging such helpers. Be sure to consider people
outside of your circle of family, friends, and coworkers
who can help you.
I recommend that you establish an annual schedule for
developing your new 2,000 percent solutions. The
schedule might include elements such as when to:
• Start picking a new solution to work on
• Finish identifying the solution goal
• Recruit a team of helpers to assist you
• Complete identifying stalls
• Finalize stallbusters
• Identify the future best practice
• Describe the ideal best practice
• Complete selection of the right people and decide how
to provide them with the right encouragement
• Start implementation
• Complete implementation
Through the experience you gain in creating more 2,000
percent solutions, your skill, confidence, and productivity
will grow so that you can use 2,000 percent solutions to
achieve breakthrough results that go far beyond what
you could envision when you started reading the book.
In the remaining lessons, I describe how to provide
exponentially more benefits through the 2,000 percent
solutions you will be creating each year.
