Dyslexics CAN Learn to Read Well!

Good morning, Live Better than a Billionaire-a-Holics!

Are you feeling motivated this morning? I certainly hope so. I know that I am!

E-MAIL THIS POST TO THOSE WHO NEED IT! YOU'LL BE MAKING A HUGE DIFFERENCE IN PEOPLES' LIVES!

Click on the little envelope with an arrow pointing to the right at the bottom left of the post to forward this post.

I am passionate about reading and have probably read over 10,000 books in my life. As you know, I've reviewed over 2,500 books on Amazon.com/. If you would like to see what I've written, go to http://www.amazon.com/gp/cdp/member-reviews/A1K1JW1C5CUSUZ/104-5889592-2919129 or click on the button in the right sidebar under links that says "Donald Mitchell's Amazon.com Book Reviews".

Because of that passion, I have always been an advocate for better reading education. I know from personal experience that most people can learn to read at least 10 times faster and more effectively. By improving their reading, they can learn 10 times as much in a lifetime. It's like being given the chance to be reborn 10 times. What a gift!

But there's a category of people who draw my special interest: dyslexics. Why? Without help, they live in a world of extremely tight constraints on their ability to learn through reading.

I'm not a reading dyslexic, but I am a hearing dyslexic, so I can slightly appreciate the problem.

Let me demonstrate for you the effects that dyslexia can have. I'm going to scramble up a sentence from this blog entry to make it look like that sentence might look to a dyslexic:

erA nnromgi oyu? eeiflgn siht detavitom

Both the letters within words and the order of the words may be scrambled . . . or just one or the other.

How would you like to confront two pages of small print that looked like that example? Grrrr!

One of the worst problems for a dyslexic is to maintain a healthy sense of self-esteem. While those of us who can read well are soaring through words, the dyslexic is breaking the code on the Rosetta Stone each time. That just might make you feel a little stupid during a timed test as you watch everyone else race through material that's like molasses to you.

Learning to read well creates the right self-esteem.

But there's a solution that most people don't know about. Dyslexics (and others who simply want to be a better reader) can learn to read as well as anyone else.

The breakthrough comes in the form of a new approach to reading developed by the world-renowned inventor, John F. Adams.

One of the special strengths of his approach is that he will personally diagnose the type of dyslexia that a reader has . . . and individually create a program that matches just that learners' needs using sophisticated computer software.

One of the reasons that I have so much confidence in this approach is because Mr. Adams was born dyslexic. It's hard for me to imagine that those of us who see things in the proper order can devise solutions for those who don't. We simply cannot understand what the other person is going through. Despite his dyslexia, Mr. Adams graduated from Harvard College. You can imagine how much brain power that took!

Mr. Adams kindly demonstrated this remarkable breakthrough for me.

To begin the training, Mr. Adams sends reading material over the Internet to the dyslexic student. The student reads what he or she sees. From listening to the student over the telephone, Mr. Adams can "see" what type of dyslexia the student is encountering. The student's voice is a picture of the inner workings of the student's brain dysfunction. Mr. Adams often finds that his students have been misdiagnosed for the type of dyslexia they have and their training has been inappropriate.

Mr. Adams then programs the student's computer to show words from books in the way that will retrain the student's brain to see the words as you and I see them. The student determines the rate of speed and rate of progress. Within a short time, the student can use this program to read just about anything better than the average non-dyslexic learner.

The key? Just one word appears at a time. So those who simply mix up word orders don't have any words to mix up. The computer does that for them. Those who have letters swimming around within a word only have to deal with letters swimming around within one word at a time. It's much easier. Simple? Brilliant? Yes!!!!!

It's like a miracle!

While I was there, I encouraged Mr. Adams to consider creating programs that would take good readers (1,000 words a minute) and make them into fast readers (5,000 plus words a minute). I could see from the gleam in his eye that he liked the challenge.

If you want to check out this program, go to http://www.proportionalreading.com. Click on the center of the home page where it says "Improve Reading Quickly" to get into the other pages. Then go to the page that offers a free demo DVD. It's the second link from the left on the top of the page.

While his program is like a miracle for dyslexics, he can also help you if you simply read less than 1,000 words a minute (about 99% of the population) and want to read faster and get more out of your reading.

Many parents will naturally want their schools to buy Mr. Adams' technology and use it there. Don't hold your breath. Schools don't like to buy technology. They usually spend most of their money on administrators, buildings and a little for teachers. Mr. Adams' approach is much less expensive than traditional programs for reading improvement for dyslexics or ordinary readers.

Make the investment! It's the best money you'll spend this year.

So while billionaire dyslexics like Sir Richard Branson are struggling with reading material, you can be making faster progress . . . even if you have worse dyslexia than they do.

What's amazing is that with this technology any dyslexic can learn to read better than just about any billionaire.

Now isn't that sweet?

Tomorrow, I'll share with you how you can automatically water your indoor plants while you are away . . . so you can give your butler and maid time off while you're away!

Sunday, let's take a minute to think about the best ways to spend a day not working.

Monday, leisure time during a busy day is our subject. So just get ready to chill.

Tuesday, let's look at new ways to enjoy visiting mansions!

Wednesday, we'll update the blog on what are the least expensive ways to lose weight right now!

Thursday, you'll get a close look at the upcoming NFL season, and especially the Thursday Night game where the Oakland Raiders come to New England to watch the Patriots put up their third world championship banner.
