Sit Back and Relax with Your Favorite Music to Live Better than a Billionaire
Good morning, Live Better than a Billionaire-a-Holics!
Are you feeling motivated this morning? I certainly hope so. I know that I am!
Do you enjoy listening to music?
Are you interested in having some new experiences?
Would you like to explore new dimensions of life?
Are you ready for more excitement?
Most people turn on their favorite radio station, put on their favorite CDs or just listen to whatever is being played around them.
What a waste!
When you take that approach, someone else is in control of your mood and experiences. It's almost like sitting down in front of the television all day without having a way to change channels.
Naturally, you can get ahead of that unpleasant circumstance if you download your own music and put it in the order you like it.
If you do it legally, that's pretty expensive.
What can you do instead?
You should become your own emotional program director.
What does that mean?
Start by listening to all of your favorite music. Write down the emotions you experience when you listen to each song, concerto, or symphony. Describe how strongly you feel those emotions.
Next, think about when you want to experience those emotions in various degrees. For instance, when you are sleepy in the morning, you might find it invigorating to listen to music that makes you feel strong and vigorous. Before you make a presentation at work, you may want to feel confident and relaxed. Before going out on Saturday night, you may want to feel like you're in a party mood.
Experiment with different music in different situations. For example, you may find that you prefer soothing music when you awake on Saturday mornings rather than the music that makes you feel strong and vigorous to get you off to a good start from Monday through Friday.
Try new forms of music. I was struck that there was a lot of rap music during the Patriots game I attended last week. That experience made me realize that rap music can be a good way of building sustained excitement. Since I don't usually listen to rap music, I'll have to do some research to find performances that build the best sustained excitement for me.
What are the lessons for you?
1. Realize that you can use music to tune up your mood.
2. Choose your moods to maximize your performance and enjoyment.
3. Improve the quality of your music reproduction choices.
4. Stop letting others choose your music for you.
5. Program every day as though you are heading a radio station for only one listener.
6. Become an expert on how musical choices affect you emotionally.
7. Keep improving your delight by expanding your musical awareness.
8. Attend good concerts to deepen your reaction to the most effective music for you.
9. Remember those concert experiences when you hear the music to bring back that stronger emotional reaction.
Can any billionaire do better? I doubt it.
Billionaires are usually pretty busy listening to people ask them for money, trying to keep the money they have and ordering around their personal staffs. This would sound like too much work for them.
Billionaires who like the idea will probably hire a top programmer to do this task for them. So they will end up with a simply more expensive version of having someone else determine their moods. What a waste!
