Blog Writing Can Enrich Your Life Better than a Billionaire
Good morning, Live Better than a Billionaire-a-Holics!
Are you feeling motivated this morning? I certainly hope so. I know that I am!
Do you enjoy meeting new people?
Are you energized by gaining new insights about yourself?
Is writing a passion for you?
Have you ever kept a diary?
Blogging is an intriguing new communications form.
The concept can be a little hard to grasp at first.
If you ever kept a diary, you know that the last thing you ever wanted was for someone to read your private thoughts about your experiences.
Since blogging seems a lot like keeping a daily diary, some find the potential loss of privacy to be daunting.
But of course, you don't really have that problem . . . because you know that what you write will be read. So you censor yourself in those areas where privacy requires discretion.
If you have a public purpose to your blogging, the process takes on a whole new dimension. You have a platform to share your ideas, suggestions and writing. And there is no limit to the audience you can attract . . . entertaining and helpful material will win out. In fact, if the material is good enough, others will translate and propagate it to who knows where.
But you have a day job (or a night job, if you are raising young children). Where does blogging fit in? To me, blogging is a chance to address the universe in public and say . . . we can make a difference!
It's easy to lose sight of that point in our daily lives. In fact, I also experience blogging as being akin to prayer . . . a way to show our connection to Divine wisdom.
Having said all those things, you're probably still waiting for a definition of blogging. I don't have a good one. The term "blogging" is a little like the term "graffiti art" which is so broad as to be not very helpful.
I would distinguish several kinds of blogs and their purposes though.
1. Dating blogs -- These provide readers with ways to live vicariously through other peoples' lives.
2. Celebrity put down blogs -- These are ways to give people a sense of feeling superior for a few minutes through humor.
3. Celebrity blog -- These create a sense of intimacy with the celebrity.
4. Philosophical blog -- A way to explore one's personal views.
5. Political blog -- Raw meat for the politically obsessed.
6. Daily activities blog -- A way to help friends and family keep track of what's going on in your life.
7. Aide memoire blog -- A way to keep track of your activities and thoughts for yourself.
8. Book draft blog -- Test marketing subjects, writing style and slants.
And, of course, there are many more.
I think the key thing is to make your blog a deeper expression of yourself than you can normally provide.
When you do that, blogging will become a source of endless riches from personal experiences for you.
Please add your comments with ways that you've found to make blogging and reading blogs rewarding. I'm sure that other readers will be interested. Thanks!
Can any billionaire do better? I doubt it.
When was the last time you saw a billionaire who wanted to let down his or her hair in public? There's a reason why Donald Trump has that complicated comb over.
